All about the trip
Bratislava Classical Walking Tour starts at 12:00 PM. Meeting with the guide in front of Park Inn by Radisson Danube Hotel. Short basic introduction of Bratislava and Slovakia. Firstly the guide will open up you history of one of the most youngest capital cities of Europe. Slovakia became an independent state just in 1993. Moreover you will hear about ancient history of Slovakia. It’s a time when the old Slavs, the predecessor of modern Slovaks inhabited Slovakia. They created Great Moravia Empire. Continue by times when Slovakia was part of Hungarian Empire. Afterwards Austro – Hungarian Empire.
You will hear the legends from this period. The legends and stories full of brave knights, kings and queens. For instance you’ll hear a legend about the knight Roland. He was so popular, that he has even a fountain at Main Square. The story continues to time of first Czechoslovakia.
Continue by a controversial Slovak war state during second world war. You will also hear about the darkness times of communism in Slovakia. But we will tell you also about the hope, that brought the Velvet revolution. The result of Velvet revolution was at the end an independent Slovakia. From 2004 a proud member of European Union.
What you will see
You’ll discover Slovak National Theater, as well as Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra – Reduta. Continue to statue of Man at Work, Main Square with Roland Fountain, statue of Napoleonic soldier & Old Town Hall. Learn about Franciscan Church, the oldest sacral building of Bratislava. Walking tour goes on to Biela Street, Michalska Street with St. Michael’s Gate. Pass along a Palace of Royal Hungarian Chamber, Mozart House and Academia Istropolitana. Last stops are Keglevich Palace and St. Martin’s Cathedral.
