Hierapolis, a name that translates to "Holy City," was once a thriving ancient Greco-Roman metropolis situated in Phrygia, a region located in southwestern Anatolia. The city was built around natural hot springs, and its ruins can be found next to the present-day city of Pamukkale. It has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, owing to its rich history and cultural significance.

The hot springs in Hierapolis have been utilized as a spa since the 2nd century B.C., attracting visitors seeking relief from various ailments. Many of them even chose to retire or spend their last days in this peaceful and rejuvenating place. Among the city's notable landmarks are the vast necropolis, which houses numerous sarcophagi, the bustling main street featuring impressive gates and latrines, the grand cathedral, the majestic theater, and the tomb of St. Philip.

The hot springs in Hierapolis create cascading pools of water that are famously referred to as the Cotton Castle. Although it requires a long commute from Antalya, a visit to this remarkable location is undoubtedly worth the effort, as it provides an unforgettable experience.
