All about the trip
Tasting typical dishes of the places you visit is one of the best ways to learn about local culture and traditions. With this Hanoi street food tour, you discover exotic foods, roadside shops, street vendors, traditional restaurants, strange mouths, and stories about dishes.
Your tour starts with a walking session around Dong Xuan, the largest covered market of Hanoi. Here you see dozens of street hawkers selling a staggering variety of dishes, from live seafood to exotic fruits and spices. Your knowledgeable English-speaking local guide gives you insights into the intricacies and traditions of Vietnamese food culture such as ingredients and historical backgrounds of popular northern dishes.
Walking through the maze of bustling streets that make up Hanoi’s Old Quarter, you reach a restaurant where the famous Banh Cuon is prepared. You can observe how the skilled chefs do this recipe for you - and taste it afterwards, of course.
Continuing into the atmospheric heart of the Old Quarter, you explore street stalls and quiet residential areas where you can observe how the local life hasn’t changed much since the foundation of Hanoi, over 1000 years ago. Our next stop is Banh My 25 shop “French Baguette,” a little food stall with a few typical tiny Vietnamese chairs on the sidewalk. Here you can enjoy delicious and fresh baguettes while observing the neighborhood. After that, you go to another food stalls in Hang Bo and Ho Hoan Kiem Street, where you try traditional dishes such as Che “Vietnamese style pudding.”
Now it’s dessert time as you visit a small alley to join in the local tradition of feasting on fresh fruit served in a cup and smothered with crushed ice. This speciality is unmissable!
To finish this tour, you must try a cup of egg coffee for a full experience of the local cuisine and have good stories to tell your friends when you get back home.
