All about the trip
We will start our journey towards the Fagaras Mountains. This is one of the most beautiful mountain massive in Romania. They are also named the Transylvanian Alps.
Our first stop will be in the town named Curtea de Arges, at the bottom of the Fagaras Mountains. Here, we will visit one of the most remarkable monasteries in Romania. The monastery is famous for its beautiful and original architecture and also for its historical importance. This monastery attracts thousands of tourists and pilgrims every year.
Then we will continue our tour to the northern regions of Arges County. A marvelous landscape of the mountains will welcome us. We will make a stop at the foot of the Poenari Citadel which is a stronghold that became famous thanks to Dracula’s legend.
After a short stop, we enter Romania’s most beautiful road, named by Top Gear “The Best Road in the World”! The Transfagarasan is the second-highest road in Romania and the most beautiful one. The road reaches its highest point of 2034 m at the Balea Lake, after passing through Romania’s longest road tunnel, the Capra Tunnel. Here we will have an hour and a half break to enjoy the beauty of this place. We have numerous possibilities:
Cable car trip between Balea Lake and Balea Waterfall
Lunch in one of the chalets or picnic
Hike around this beautiful area
With our batteries fully charged we can drive back to Bucharest. We will spend the last few hours together in an enjoyable environment. We will be discussing what we saw, watching the photos and listening to rewarding music.
