All about the trip

One of the most important quarries called Wadi El Hammamat, where the driver takes you, is located about 50 km from El Quseir. This place used to be a busy commercial crossroads in antiquity. It also has old patterns and hieroglyphs carved in stones that are some three thousand years old. Precious sarcophagi or interior decoration of pyramids were produced from the silt that was mined here. An important Egyptian archaeological find is the so-called Narmer Palette over two thousand years old, which is made from this material. Equally interesting is the former Umm Fawakhir gold mines or the ancient Roman fortress Qasr El Banat. Lovers of unusual places and history will be really excited about the trip.
