All about the trip

Hon Giao Pass is a high mountain pass which is especially famous for its spectacular views and beautiful countryside. The roads here are also just perfect for cycling.

The name 'Hon Giao' in Vietnamese loosely translates to 'Heaven's Pass' and is rightfully named so, as you will literally see the clouds part whilst up here. Situated at an elevation of 1,645m (5,396ft) above sea level, Hon Giao is famously known as one of the most beautiful mountain passes in the world. The road itself which leads up to the summit is called Provincial Road 723. It is 33 km long and connects the coastal city of Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa province with the city of Da Lat, Lam Dong province. The pass is also known as Khanh Le, Long Lanh or Omega.

The day of cycling begins in the morning with you being picked-up from your hotel in Nha Trang at 8:00 am. Our English-speaking tour guide will collect you in a private car and will take you to Suoi Da Hon Giao, which is our first stop. From here we cycle up to the peak of Hon Giao pass. It's 35 km to the peak and the length of time this takes depends largely on your own cycling ability. Along the way, we will have many opportunities to take photos from the mountainside which is often thick with white fog. On the way down, we will briefly stop to explore a traditional local village.

Once we arrive back in Suoi Da Hon we will enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch together consisting of: sticky rice, BBQ pork, simmered chicken, sour soup, vegetables and much more. You will most likely be quite hungry after a long morning of cycling!

What to take with you?

We recommend that you wear bright, visible clothing that is suitable for long distance cycling. We also recommend taking sunscreen and a sun hat, it can be extremely hot in Vietnam. You may also wish to bring extra water, a small camera and a backpack with you.

Itinerary

08:00	- You will be picked up from your hotel in Nha Trang city by our guide in a private car
	- We travel towards to Suoi Da Hon Giao
	- We cycle to the peak of Hon Giao pass. It takes 35km from here to the peak
	- Once at the summit, we stop for some photos and a glorious mountain view
	- Cycle back down towards the rest stop
	- We then stop for a lunch of traditional Vietnamese food
14:00	- W return you to your hotel or the city centre
